We’ve all been there. We’ve sat down, opened Kingmaker, and thought to ourselves “I’ll have a gamble, get a quick bonus, and that’ll be that.” Suddenly, what feels like three hours later, we realise how naive we’ve been, and we’re sitting with a x23 multiplier praying to the Slot Gods that we finally see those Scatters so we can go to sleep. Big Time Gaming have released so many incredible slots, with some amazing innovation, but none have been quite as much of a grind as Kingmaker. That is, until now…
On Monday 27th July Big Time Gaming released a sneak preview of their latest game. We now know this slot is called Slot Vegas and it follows a new format. BTG are responsible for one of the greatest innovations in online slots – Megaways, which many other providers have licensed for their own slots. Most recently, they brought us Star Clusters Megaclusters, and around that time they announced that there would be two more “Megas” released by the end of the year. Finally, we’ve discovered the third Mega – Megaquads.
The preview of this slot didn’t appear to give much away. Originally, upon seeing the theme, we were holding out high hopes it would be called “Hideous Slots goes to Vegas”, and were eagerly awaiting the call for permission to use the name, but these hopes fell short. What we could see is that the slot is comprised of 4 separate sets of reels, each 4×4 in size, with building multipliers along the left hand side of the slot. The standard 4×4 reel sets pay 256 ways.
We see from the short clip that BTG have provided that the multipliers work in the same way as Kingmaker, which is how we know we’re in for a grind. As with all BTG slots, the colours of premium symbols (in this case, 7s and a diamond – very Vegas) are green, blue, red and purple, in ascending order. If you’ve played Kingmaker, you’ll know that the multipliers build by getting 5 of a kind of any premium symbol, which in turn adds 1 to the multiplier for that coloured gem. Once you land the Scatters, the multipliers add together to give your bonus multiplier.
So What Is It?
The format is very similar in this slot, with a twist. We can see in the short clip that we’ve been given that, when 4 of a kind green 7s land on the first set of reels with a rainbow wild, it adds x1 to the green multiplier, as with Kingmaker. The screen briefly pauses for this multiplier to add on, and as the second set of reels spin we see another rainbow wild. This is reminiscent of the new wilds in Star Clusters MegaClusters, which add x1 to the multiplier each time you form a win with one. After the rainbow wild lands on both reel sets, we see a rainbow form between the two boards, and they link together. Again, on the second reel set we see green 7s on 3 of the 4 reels, and a rainbow wild on the reel without a green 7. After the boards have linked together, we see two extra wilds have been added to reels 4 & 5. This time, the multiplier climbs quicker. The multiplier moved from x1 to x2 for the first 4 of a kind green 7s, and then climbs to x6 for the second 4 of a kind green 7s, meaning the multiplier climbs higher after the reel sets have linked together.
Once the boards have linked together, they become one reel set of 8×4, paying a massive 65,536 ways. We are hoping this means the slot will offer some spicy wins on the way to the bonus. As with Kingmaker, the multiplier growing at the side means triggering the bonus later should in theory mean a better bonus. It’s an odd feeling to play a slot and not hope for an early bonus, but in this slot it seems as though it’s definitely the later the better.
When Can We See More?
Unfortunately, this is where BTG’s preview came to an end, and it left us full of excitement. We do now know, thanks to Big Win Board that the bonus pays on two 4×8 reel sets, each paying 4,096 ways. To make things more exciting, landing a rainbow wild on both link them together to form one massive 8×8 board. This means there is a potential for an incredible 16,777,216 ways to win. The max win on this slot is 43,000x your bet, which is unsurprising as Big Time Gaming are always bringing us slots that can pay life changing amounts of money. The multiplier can continue to grow within this bonus, as with Kingmaker, and it can retrigger, so we definitely think we’ll see some huge bonuses come from this slot.
Some “four-slot” games already exist, like the recent Gorilla Gold Megaways from Blueprint Gaming. A big complaint from gamblers is that we are charged a stake per slot whilst playing Gorilla Gold Megaways (plus that hefty Super Bet) , which makes a lot of people feel as though they are paying the price four times as quickly, with it not really being worthwhile since the bonus only pays at the rate of the single stake per window. This won’t be a problem within this slot, as the four reel sets all spin once each for each credit you spend, so don’t let the word “quad” put you off or make you feel as thought the cost is four times as high. We definitely think this game looks like an exciting addition to the Big Time Gaming Family.
Let us know below what you think about the preview of this game. If you think you can guess what the fourth, and final “Mega” will be, comment your thoughts underneath, and you can check out the video on Big Time Gaming’s Twitter.
