About The Game
Centurion Megaways has arrived! Bringing a classic game from the arcades on to our Laptops and Mobiles, and giving it a Megaways makeover with plenty of top end potential. This game can really pay, and we have already seen pics and videos of some really huge wins. The styling is twist on the original simple layout, and we still have our little centurion friend hiding in a bush to the bottom right, popping his head out from time to time to offer six different reel based bonuses. Don’t worry though, he can still tease just like we’re used to.
The pay table symbols are identical to the original game we all know and love, but the amounts have changed to fit the cascading Megaways design. At the low end, this means that 3 of a kind Jacks will return just 0.1x bet, and aces and small premiums will pay 0.2x bet. These wins seem very small but remember that in a lot of the bonuses we are working with increasing multipliers and we sometimes have 117649 ways to win! Things get a lot more exciting as we move to five of a kind pays, and the top symbol pays an impressive 50x bet for a 6 of a kind win: imagine this with a big multiplier in the bonus!
The first thing that must be mentioned is what a great job Inspired have done by keeping the character and charm of the original game. Anyone that has played this game in land based Casinos, Bookies or Arcades will feel really comfortable and familiar. I would suggest trying out the turbo option in the settings page, as without this enabled the spins were taking 4-5 seconds on my laptop. This really made the game feel a little turgid and laborious, but with quick spins enabled I was only really paused on credits with a cascading win.
The game itself centres heavily around the bonus, and this is where most of the potential lies. Even when the base game features are triggered, what you’re really hoping for is “Super Bonus Reels” and to land at least three bonus symbols in view. Although “Maximum Megaways” and “Minimum 10,000 Ways” can still result in some nice wins and continued cascades – this is a game where everyone is playing for the bonus. The other options of reel based bonuses are Mystery Symbol, and Big Win, the latter of which seems to pay around 20x bet minimum.
Once you land three Bonus symbols within the base game, the main Bonus is triggered and you are taken to a screen where a wheel is spun. There are 6 Bonuses available and they are displayed vertically from best to worst alongside the wheel. At the top “Super Wild Power Spins” is a fantastic high paying bonus with up to 4 multiplying Wild Reels: but at the bottom is Prizes On Parade: a fairly dull pick me feature with minimal potential. All of the free spin features can pack a punch, and the Caesar’s Free Spins offer an increasing multiplier in a traditional Megaways style.
When gambling between the bonuses, be aware that it is not always a 50/50 chance of progression from one to the next. For example, the chance of winning the gamble from Wild Power Spins to Super Wild Power Spins is just 23%, but that is because the top feature is over 4 times as good! Whatever you think about this style of gamble, make sure you’re well informed before you play with it: as we you’ll end up with a mystery win if it loses and they’re often quite small.
Centurion Megaways had a lot to live up to after the success of its predecessor in Bookies all over the UK. I’m sure those players will love this new spin on the game. But expect something different. This game is far more volatile than many would expect!
