One of Stakelogic’s most popular releases to date is Candyways Bonanza 2 Megaways – a sequel to their original Candyways Bonanza. It seems this release proved so popular for the team they’re revamping it to bring us Fruityways Bonanza Megaways. This release is highly volatile, with a fixed RTP of 95.80%, and is capable of producing wins up to 30,000x bet, so let’s take a closer look at what we can expect from this one.
Visually, we’re on the beach, on a clear summer’s day. Palm trees sit to the sides of the reels, and a host of exotic fruit make up the symbols – we’ve stepped away from the classic cherries, plums, and strawberries in favour of coconuts, pineapples, and passion fruits. Surf boards sit in view, and the whole thing is wrapped in a bright yellow bamboo style, making it all quite nice to look at. Audios are upbeat, kind of exactly what you’d expect if you googled ‘music for my Hawaiian themed party’.
Fruityways Bonanza Megaways Base Features
Taking place across 6 reels, wins are formed on Fruityways Bonanza Megaways by matching at least 3 symbols on adjacent reels, beginning with the leftmost reel. Each reel can hold up to 7 symbols (including the top reel), producing 117,649 ways to win. Symbols available begin with passion fruits, lychees, papayas, mangos, dragon fruits, and kiwis. Land 3 of a kind of any of these symbols to see wins between 0.10 and 0.30x bet, with this increasing to values between 0.70 and 0.90x bet for 6 of a kind. Next up are pineapples, coconuts, and watermelons, awarding wins between 0.40 and 0.50x bet for 3 of a kind, increasing to values between 1 and 3x bet for 6 of a kind. Bananas are the highest paying symbol, also paying for 2 of a kind. Land 2, 3, 4, 5, or 6 bananas to see wins of 0.50, 2, 3, 5, and 10x bet, respectively.
Alright, the first thing to cover in Fruityways Bonanza Megaways is the cascade mechanic. On every spin, all symbols involved in a win will be removed from the reels. All remaining symbols will drop to the bottom of the reels or fill in from the right on the top reel. New symbols will then drop onto the reels to fill any gaps, giving a chance for more wins to connect. Cascades continue until no more wins can form.
Next up is the Super Stake option, which comes at a cost of doubling your bet size. Doing this provides extra chances of hitting ‘insanely valuable winning combinations’, although just what this chance is isn’t confirmed by Stakelogic. What we do know however, is that doubling your bet will also double the chance of triggering Free Spins.
Finally for the base game, it’s the Mystery Wild symbol – represented by a yellow question mark. The Mystery Wild symbol can only land along the top reel, and when it does, it acts as a standard Wild, but first it will reveal a standard symbol. All matching symbols on the reel directly below will then also turn Wild. Wilds replace all symbols except Bonus Scatter symbols.
Fruityways Bonanza Megaways Bonus
Land 4 or more Surfboard Bonus Scatters to trigger Free Spins. Upon triggering Free Spins, players are greeted with a choice of feature:
- Super Free Spins – 15 Free Spins, with multiplier symbols between x2 and x30.
- Mega Free Spins – 10 Free Spins, with multiplier symbols between x2 and x50.
- Insane Free Spins – 8 Free Spins, with multiplier symbols between x2 and x100.
Landing more than 4 Bonus Scatters will award additional Free Spins. It is not clear in game information how many spins it is possible to trigger, but in landing 5 Bonus Scatters options are 18, 12, and 9 Free Spins, for the 3 respective options.
Starfish Multiplier symbols can only land in Free Spins. When they land on the reels, they are not removed during cascades, however once all cascades have finished their values are collected and applied to the total win of the spin. If more than one Multiplier Symbol is present, their values will add together.
Land 4 or more Bonus Scatters during Free Spins to re-trigger the feature, awarding the original number of spins again.
Players in appropriate regions can opt to buy the feature for a cost of 100x bet. In doing so, players can choose from any of the 3 Free Spin options.
The maximum win available in Fruityways Bonanza Megaways is 30,000x bet. If the sum of a single game round exceeds this, the game round will end and 30,000x bet will be awarded.
First Impression
We hear players talk sometimes about how they feel a game is a ‘re-skin’, implying so few changes have been made, it doesn’t really count as a new release. Whilst that often isn’t true, it is in fact accurate in Fruityways Bonanza Megaways. What we have here is Candyways Bonanza 2 Megaways, with fruit instead of candy. There’s nothing inherently wrong with this – if you have a winning mechanic and it’s working, why not capitalise on it? That said, if you’re a fan of Candyways Bonanza 2 Megaways and you’re expecting something a bit different in Fruityways Bonanza Megaways, you might be disappointed.
Gameplay has pretty much stayed the same from Candyways – it’s more or less all about Free Spins, and even then – it’s all about multipliers. That’s not to say things aren’t exciting – landing the right combinations can produce wins up to 30,000x bet, so there’s definitely potential. It’s an interesting mechanic – one where you can have 7 dead spins and lose all hope, then hit multipliers in excess of x100 on your final spin, and suddenly you’re laughing.
RTP is fixed at 95.80%, and a bonus buy option is available for those willing or able to try, for a cost of 100x bet. Things are highly volatile though, so it won’t necessarily be a carefree trip to the beach. If you aren’t prepared to spend 100x bet, Super Stake doubles your chance of triggering Free Spins, albeit by doubling your stake.
If you liked Candyways Bonanza 2 Megaways, you’ll definitely like Fruityways Bonanza Megaways – unless you have a severe aversion to fruit, how could you not?
