Now, we’re revising the latter, with Double Lucky Mushrooms DoubleMax – a highly volatile release offering a fixed RTP of 95.50%, and wins up to 19,999x bet.

Visually. it’s all pretty reminiscent of Dublin Up. It’s about as Irish as you can get – like Rainbow Riches, but kicked into high gear. Rainbows, rolling green hills, and some sort of female leprechaun fairy character all go towards this idea, aided by Celtic stylings, mushrooms, and wishing wells. It’s all very cliche, but if Rainbow Riches has shown us anything, it’s that there is definitely a market for this sort of thing. Flute music ties it all together – an expected choice, but a fine one.

There isn’t a great deal happening in the base game of Double Lucky Mushrooms DoubleMax, especially compared to other DoubleMax releases which bring multipliers and Golden Bets into the mix. What we do have though are Wild Clover Super Wilds. On any spin, if a Clover Super Wild symbol lands in view, it will expand to cover all positions on the reel it has landed upon. This Wild Reel will then substitute for all symbols except Scatters or Free Spin symbols.

Apart from this, it’s all about the two bonuses in this release, and we’ll take a look at the first one now, since it’s fairly straightforward – the Wishing Well Bonus. After landing 3 or more Scatters in view, Wishing Wells will appear, giving a choice for players. After choosing a Wishing Well, it will reveal a cash value. The cash values are dependent on the number of symbols that triggered the feature.

During Free Spins, Mushroom symbols can land on reels 1-4, and will reveal a cash value when they land. The Lady Luck symbol can land on reel 5. First Impression

Double Lucky Mushrooms DoubleMax is an interesting release, because it applies the DoubleMax multiplier made popular through Raptor, but adds its own twist. Had Raptor not been such a stellar release for the team at Yggdrasil, this might not have been such a big deal, but given that it was so popular, it feels a bit like ‘if it ain’t broke, why fix it?’. In general, it feels interesting the team at Reflex chose to go with the DoubleMax label on this one, since it feels like they’d have gotten away without it, but what do I know.

Gameplay in the base game is fine, with expanding Wilds and the Wishing Well bonus going most of the way towards keeping things moving forward. When you move into Free Spins things certainly do pick up, and in true DoubleMax fashion, it’s all about those final few spins. There’s no sense in lying though, if you’re a big fan of DoubleMax, you’ll definitely miss the sight of win multipliers in excess of x1,000.

Maths is highly volatile, RTP is fixed at 95.50%, and wins are available up to 19,999x bet, so statistically things are fine – as we’ve come to expect from Reflex. All this to say, if you’re a fan of Ireland, doubling multipliers, or ‘pick bonuses’, this one will suit you just fine.
