We’re visiting Lady Fortune in her place of work today, as we see when we first load Orb of Destiny. She stands outside a wagon waving us in, and thankfully we won’t come away too worse for wear financially, since her sign very clearly says she’ll read our fortune for just 10 cents.

Once inside we have a birds eye view of a wooden table, with tarot cards, some books, golden sun in splendour coins and dice scattered throughout.

Taking place across 6 reels, wins are formed on Orb of Destiny by matching at least 3 symbols on adjacent reels, beginning with the leftmost reel, across 1 of 14 fixed win lines.

Symbols available begin with non premiums, with blue, green, purple, red and yellow dice. Land 3 of a kind of any premium to see wins between 0.10 and 0.50x bet, whilst 6 of a kind matches will award 5x bet for all dice except yellow, which pay 10x bet for 6 of a kind matches.

At the premium end we have tarot cards matching in colour to their non premium counterpart, awarding wins between 1 and 2x bet for 3 of a kind matches, increasing to values between 15 and 25x bet for 6 of a kind wins.

Like many releases from this team, Orb of Destiny uses wild reels to create most of the anticipation.

In this release, wild reels are known as Lady Fortunes, which can land on any reel.

When Lady Fortune lands in view, she expands into a Wild Multiplier Reel that displays between 1 and 3 multiplier values.

If there is more than one multiplier value they will stack vertically – the bottommost value is the active one.

The active multiplier will be applied to any winning combinations the Lady Fortune is part of.

If more than one Lady Fortune is involved in a winning combination, their multipliers will be added together before being applied.

Possible multiplier values are 2x, 3x, 4x, 5x, 10x, 15x, 20x, 25x, 50x or 100x.

Respins

After forming any possible winning combinations, the bottommost multiplier is removed from any Lady Fortune in view, even if it was not used in a winning combination.

If at least one Lady Fortune still has a multiplier remaining, a respin is awarded where Lady Fortunes that still have multipliers will stick in place, and all other symbols are replaced.

Lady Fortunes with no multipliers remaining will be removed from the reels during this step.

This process continues until no Lady Fortunes remain on the reels or the maximum win has been reached.

The Orb of Destiny

Next up are Orb symbols, which can land on any reel but only during respins.

When an Orb symbol lands in view it will reveal a number between 1 and 3.

After revealing a number it will add that many random multipliers to all Lady Fortunes in view.

The possible multiplier values that can be added are 2x, 3x, 4x, 5x, 10x, 15x, 20x, 25x, 50x or 100x.

First Impression

Hacksaw Gaming are really carving out a niche for themselves as the studio that can do anything and everything with wild reels, and it’s really starting to show.

There isn’t anything here that is completely unique – wild reels and multipliers have been done plenty of times before, especially from this team, but we do get to see things presented in a new light with an interesting theme.

The aim is the same in the base game and both bonus features – land as many Lady Fortunes as possible containing as many multipliers as possible, with the biggest values possible.

In the bonus features you’re going to see respins more often since at least 2 or 3 multipliers are guaranteed per Lady Fortune, but you can still see these in the base game. When the right combinations occur, wins are possible up to 10,000x bet.

Finally maths is highly (4/5) volatile and RTP options are available up to 96.23%, so as always it’s worth checking this. It might not be completely original, but Orb of Destiny is a great example of how to present something common in a new and interesting way.
