Taking place across 6 reels, Spooky Vibes Accumul8 uses the Accumul8 mechanic – land at least 8 matching symbols anywhere on the reels to form a win. Symbols available begin with non premiums, with 5 eyeballs in various jars with coloured liquids – blue, green, purple, red, and yellow. Landing between 8-9 of any non premium will award wins between 0.25 and 1x bet, increasing to values between 0.75 and 1.50x bet for 10-11 symbols, and values between 2 and 10x bet for 12 or more in view. At the premium end, we have spiders, skulls, bats, and black cats, awarding wins between 1.5 and 5x bet for 8-9 in view, increasing to values between 2 and 15x bet for 10-11 symbols, and values between 12 and 50x bet for 12 or more in view.

There’s not much happening in the base game, with the exception of the Cascade feature – any symbols involved in a win will be removed from the reels, with remaining symbols dropping down into the spaces. New symbols will then drop in from above to fill the remaining gaps in the reels, giving an opportunity for new wins to form. Cascades continue until no more wins are formed.

Land 3, 4, or 5+ Pumpkin symbols to trigger 10, 15, or 20 Free Spins, respectively. During Free Spins, symbols continue to form wins as they do in the base game, and Cascades continue. The main distinction however is that Multiplier symbols are now present on the reels – in the form of grave stones. Each time a multiplier symbol lands, it will remain on the reels until Cascades have finished.

When Cascades have finished, the multiplier value will be applied to the total win, which is displayed above the reels. If more than one multiplier symbol is present on the reels, their values will be added together before being applied to the Cascade win.

There is nothing in the game information to indicate which multipliers are available, but in our testing we did see values between x2 and x250 and, considering previous Accumul8 releases, it seems like we can assume x250 is the maximum value of multiplier that can appear.

Players in appropriate regions can fast track the action and go straight into the feature with the Buy Pass option. For a cost of 75x bet, 10, 15 or 20 Free Spins will be triggered randomly. When buying the feature, RTP increases slightly, from 96.06% to 96.19%.

The maximum win available in Spooky Vibes Accumul8 is 20,000x bet. If the sum of a single game round exceeds this, the game round will end and 20,000x bet will be awarded.

First Impression

This isn’t the first Accumul8 release from the team at Light and Wonder – Sports Bonanza Accumul8 and Summer Vibes Accumul8 have both already garnered a fair amount of success. This was always going to be the result, given that the mechanic has proven popular for a number of years in releases from Pragmatic Play – Sweet Bonanza and Gates of Olympus being the obvious two examples. It’s tried and tested, so it’s no surprise then that Spooky Vibes Accumul8 plays out in an exciting way, forming one of the better seasonal releases we’ve seen so far this year.

There isn’t really anything particularly special in this release, but the gameplay is solid, backed up by appealing maths including a highly volatile maths model, an RTP of 96.06% (96.19% Feature Buy), and wins available up to 20,000x bet. When Free Spins are triggered things really get exciting with multipliers available up to x250 – so much more so than the base game, leaving us wondering if perhaps multipliers are what’s missing from the base game.

Audiovisuals are great, with a nice mix of spooky but colourful going on, making the whole thing fairly nice to look at. There isn’t much more to say, as is usually the case with a seasonal release, but if you’ve enjoyed the likes of Sweet Bonanza or the Accumul8 series, and you’re looking for something more on brand during the Halloween season, Spooky Vibes Accumul8 could be for you.
