Paytable

The pay table in The Dog House Megaways contains the same symbols as The Dog House. We have 10, J, Q, K, and A as the low paying symbols. The premium symbols, again, are bones, collars, Daschunds, Pugs and Shih Tzus. The top paying symbol is the Doberman again, and The Dog House Wild substitutes for all symbols except the scatter, appearing on reels 2, 3, 4 or 5. Wilds can carry multipliers, and landing 2 or more multiplier wilds adds the multipliers together.
The Scatter symbol remains as the glossy pink paw print with the word Bonus underneath, so there will be no confusion when you land this bonus. Win values are lower within The Dog House Megaways, but this is to be expected as the slot now pays up to 117,649 ways.

Gameplay

The Dog House didn’t have much in ways of Base Game Features, and the Megaways is no different – both slots are all about the bonus. The one original Base Game Feature has carried over into this new slot, which is, of course The Dog House Wilds, with multipliers. They can land on reels 2, 3, 4 or 5, and substitute for all symbols except the Scatter Symbol. Landing 2 or more multiplying Wilds adds the multipliers together, so there could be potential for some big wins even in the base game of this slot.
The biggest disappointment in this slot is the lack of cascades. There is a level of excitement that comes with playing Megaways slots when you’re waiting for a certain symbol to land during the cascade for a big win, and this has been completely removed from this game. However, games like Danger High Voltage and Primal Megaways have no cascades and they stand in their own right, so who knows if the lack of cascades will put people off The Dog House Megaways.

Bonus

There are two bonuses to choose from in The Dog House Megaways, which is something we always welcome in a new slot – variety is the spice of life! Landing 3 or more scatters triggers the feature, and that’s where the fun begins.
The first bonus is reminiscent of The Dog House; Sticky Wild Free Spins. During this feature it is possible to land 2-7 Multiplying Wilds on each reel, with multipliers between x1 and x3. Wilds are sticky during Free Spins, and as with the Base Game, multipliers add together.
The new feature within The Dog House Megaways is the second Free Spins option; Raining Wilds Free Spins. During this feature, up to 6 random wilds can be added to the screen in random positions. The wilds carry multipliers, and again, landing 2 or more wilds adds the multipliers together. Wilds are not sticky during the Raining Wilds Free Spins.
Both bonuses appear as though they will have massive potential in this slot. Sticky Wild Free Spins are what we know and love from The Dog House original, and we’ve already seen time and time again what that slot is capable of. Raining Wilds Free Spins are closer to what we’ve experienced during Primal Megaways , so it definitely seems like it packs a punch too.

My Thoughts

The Dog House has always been a fantastic slot, however it’s been difficult in the past to hit big within the base game, and it throws almost too many poor bonuses at us in the hunt for that massive hit. Bringing this slot into a Megaways format seems like it will move it to a different category – one where we would hope to see some decent hits far more often. It’s possible to hit some massive base game wins even in Megaways slots without multipliers, so we’re hopeful that we’ll see some good base action in The Dog House Megaways. A choice of bonuses is always welcome, and we’re excited to see which of these two excellent features plays out better for the public.
Of course, with the potential to pay out over 12,000x your bet, it makes sense that there have to be sacrifices to make room for the huge wins. We expect that there will be some players who will suffer tedious waits for the bonus, or some very poor bonuses. If you’re looking for an easy or quick to bonus game, we suspect this one won’t be for you.
