In the diverse world of online slots, there are some themes that are set to stand the test of time no matter what else comes or goes. One example is the mining game – with releases like Mega Mine, Dead Canary and Fortune Pike Gold in the extensive list. Another is the Irish theme, made popular by releases like 3 Lucky Leprechauns and Wild Wild Riches.
Now, Games Global partner GameBurger Studios are combining the two to bring us a new release – Mining Pots of Gold. From the title you might be thinking this is another fishing release, following on in their Fishin’ Pots of Gold series. Not quite. Instead, Mining Pots of Gold brings us a new experience, albeit from the same leprechaun.
With RTP options available up to 96.0%, this very highly volatile release can produce wins up to 4,000x bet.
It’s an interesting combination of artwork and animations in Mining Pots of Gold, as we find ourselves at the end of a rainbow – the classic location for a leprechaun. It’s a clear day and we’re in front of a rather large, grey rock with some vibrant green grass running along the bottom of the screen. In the Bonus feature, we head underground to tie the mining aspect in.
On the reels we have a variety of Irish symbols, whilst most of our attention goes to the left of the reels, to what looks to be a pot of treasure on top of a pile of dynamite. Mushrooms and daisies are scattered throughout the rest of the space, and an upbeat Irish soundtrack comes in to tie it all together. All in all, a unique picture.
Mining Pots of Gold Base Features
Taking place across 5 reels, wins are formed on Mining Pots of Gold by matching at least 2 or 3 symbols on adjacent reels, beginning with the leftmost reel, across 1 of 20 fixed win lines. Symbols available begin with non premiums, with 9s, 10s, Js, Qs, Ks and As, awarding wins between 0.20 and 0.50x bet for 3 of a kind matches, increasing to values between 2 and 6x bet for 5 of a kind wins.
In the mid range, we have boots, mining hats and harps, each embellished with clovers. Land 3 of a kind of any of these symbols to see wins between 1 and 1.50x bet, increasing to values between 10 and 20x bet for 5 of a kind matches.
Sacks of gold and wooden carts filled with gold nuggets are the premium symbols and the only to award wins for 2 of a kind. Land 2 of a kind of either of these symbols to see wins of 0.20 or 0.30x bet, increasing to values between 25 or 50x bet for 5 of a kind matches.
Finally, leprechaun Wild symbols substitute for all symbols except Scatters. Wild symbols always pay x2 when they substitute in wins, and they award values between 0.60 and 100x bet for matches between 2 and 5 of a kind.
The first feature to cover in Mining Pots of Gold is the Wild Blackout feature.
When this feature occurs, Wild symbols cover every reel position to form a blackout. This awards a prize of 2,000x bet in addition to line pays. At 100x bet per 5 of a kind Wild win across 20 lines, this would be an additional 2,000x bet, thus awarding the maximum win.
Wild Blackout can only occur during the base game.
Bonus Enhancer Tokens can appear on Scatter symbols and do 1 of 3 things.
- Green Token – awards an additional bonus prize up to a maximum of 9.
- Blue Token – increases the bonus multiplier by x0.50 up to a maximum of x10.
- Purple Token – awards an additional bonus spin up to a maximum of 12.
Mining Pots of Gold Bonus
Dynamite Scatter symbols can appear on reels 2, 3 and 4 in the base game. There is no specific bonus trigger. Instead, Scatters can randomly trigger the Bonus feature.
The Bonus feature triggers with the number of bonus prizes and bonus spins collected in the base game, along with the relevant multiplier. Simultaneously, up to 20 bonus prizes, a x10 multiplier and 12 bonus spins can be awarded through the trigger.
During the Bonus feature the reels disappear and players instead see a screen of 20 clovers. At the start of the feature, a number of clovers will flip over to reveal a bonus prize – this number is determined by the number of bonus prizes you have been awarded.
All remaining clovers spin for the number of bonus spins that have been awarded. On each spin 1 or more clovers may reveal a bonus prize. Additionally, random bonus prizes on each spin will have the value of the bonus multiplier applied to them. This multiplier can be applied to up to 12 prizes in total.
Bonus Cash Prize
Finally, the total number of bonus prizes revealed will award a cash prize at the end of the Bonus feature.
- 5 Bonus Prizes – 5x bet
- 10 Bonus Prizes – 15x bet
- 15 Bonus Prizes – 30x bet
- 18 Bonus Prizes – 50x bet
- 20 Bonus Prizes – 1,000x bet
When the Bonus feature is complete Bonus Enhancers will reset to random values. These can reset to a maximum of 3 bonus prizes, x2 bonus multiplier and 5 bonus spins.
There is no feature buy in Mining Pots of Gold.
The maximum win available in Mining Pots of Gold is 4,000x bet. If the sum of a single game round exceeds this, the game round will end and 4,000x bet will be awarded.
It’s a bit of a strange decision to bring a character from one slot – especially a series like Fishin’ Pots of Gold – into another, entirely different slot. Mining Pots of Gold is going to be mistaken by a lot of players for a fishing game that takes on a bit of a mining theme, especially with the leprechaun character. It’s nothing of the sort.
It is quite a simple game, but there’s nothing inherently wrong with it, either. In the base game players wholly rely on Wild symbols to aid in triggering wins, although there is a maximum win chance available there with Wild Blackout.
It’s the Bonus feature where things feel more unique. Collect bonus prizes, bonus spins and a bonus multiplier before triggering to see some impressive returns, especially with the cash prize awarded at the end of the feature according to the number of cash prizes collected. When the right combinations occur, wins are possible up to 4,000x bet.
Finally, maths is described as very highly volatile and RTP options are available up to 96.0%, so as always it’s worth checking this. This one might seem in name like it’s made for fans of Fishin’ Pots, but it’s actually better for fans of a simple hold and win style game, set deep underground.
