At first glance, Kenneth Must Die looks like quite a nice image. Think Barbie’s dream house, and you get the kind of vibe the team have gone for here. Throughout all of this we change scenes too, from the suburban home to an erotic club to a funeral home.

Beefy Dick, known to most from San Quentin, also makes an appearance as Kenneth’s… partner, let’s just say. It’s a lot to take in, and it’s simultaneously really weird and hard to take your eyes off, so that’s something to prepare yourself for.

It’s all finished off with a soundtrack that changes depending on the scenery, getting pretty heavy at times in line with the stylings of DJ Psycho and other similar releases whilst at others being pretty light with phrases like ‘living my best life!’ scattered throughout. Taking place across 5 reels, wins are formed on Kenneth Must Die by matching at least 3 symbols on adjacent reels, beginning with the leftmost reel. Reels hold 2-4-4-4-2 symbols, producing a minimum of 480 ways to win thanks to some of the features available, which we’ll explain below.

One of the most unique features in this release is the Max Win Cap Choice, which does exactly what it says on the tin by allowing players to choose their maximum win.

Big Balls Multiplier

Along the bottom of the reels, there is a special row, in which symbols come into view from the right.

At the start of every spin, all symbols in the special row receive an incremental Big Balls multiplier; the first symbol starts at x1 and then this increments by +1 for every subsequent symbol.

Symbols are split according to their respective Big Balls multiplier, which in turn increases ways to win.

When a symbol on the special row is part of a winning combination, an avalanche is triggered with symbols replaced on the special row from the right with new, incremented Big Balls multipliers.

Kinky Hookup

When a Kinky Kenneth and Kinky Wife symbol land on the normal reels, Kinky Hookup is triggered.

Gimp Transform

Gimpier Transform

Gimpier symbols can only land on reel 5, triggering Gimpier Transform when they do land.

xNudge Wilds Will Nudge Upwards to Fully Cover the Reel They Have Landed On, Increasing their Multiplier by +1 For Each Nudge

xWays

Up next is xWays; a staple of the Nolimit City catalogue.

xWays symbols can only land on the special row.

When they land in view, they will reveal 2-4 symbols of the same kind, therefore increasing the ways to win.

If more than one xWays symbol lands in view, they will all reveal the same symbol and size.

All symbols revealed from an xWays symbol in the special row will receive the respective Big Balls multiplier.

xNudge Wilds

When an xNudge Wild lands in view, it will always nudge upwards to the top of the reel it has landed on.

For each nudge it completes, its multiplier increases by +1.

If an xNudge Wild nudges over a regular Wild symbol, the multiplier will increase by an additional +1 per Wild symbol.

If multiplier xNudge Wilds land on the same reel, the already nudged xNudge multiplier will be added to the total win multiplier.

Any xNudge Wild that lands on the special row will receive the respective Big Balls multiplier.

If multiple xNudge Wilds land on multiple reels, their multipliers are added together for a total win multiplier.

Finally, any sticky xNudge Wilds will reset the position beneath themselves to its original size.

Kenneth Must Die xHole Feature

xHole

When an xHole symbol lands in the centre of the main reel area, xHole is triggered.

When this happens, any symbols in the main reel area will be sucked into the xHole and spit back out to random positions with split symbol sizes between 2 and 8.

If an xNudge Wild is sucked into xHole, it changes size and win multiplier, and then xHole converts to a Wild symbol.

First Impression

There’s a lot that can be said about Kenneth Must Die, and at the same time it almost leaves you speechless.

Not everyone is fortunate enough to work in a creative industry. For those that do, why shouldn’t they take advantage of having complete freedom to be creative in their fields? Love or hate the theme, it’s done well, and is objectively quite funny at times.

I do still feel like this team do their best work on the horror releases like Possessed or Mental, but there’s no denying this one is unique. Graphics are like nothing we’ve seen before, and the soundtrack is truly one of their best – I know I’ll be singing “don’t know why, don’t know why…” for days to come.

The storyline is quite simple – Kenneth leads a double life – but the gameplay is far more complex. In the base game, cleverly titled features like xHole, Big Balls Multipliers and Gimp Transform all help things to keep moving forward, each bringing something unique to the experience. These are all aided by the usual suspects like xWays and xNudge, so no changes there.

In Free Spins things are kicked up a notch, with 3 possible rounds to trigger – each offering sticky Wilds and multipliers that do not reset. Land either of the Super Free Spins features and see Gimpier symbols, xNudge Wilds and even xHoles stick in position.
